What is D Day to us? My mom’s is coming up on June 23. Here’s a video tribute we made.

The days leading up to my mom's transition, I played Enya's Shepherd Moons CD on repeat for my mom. When my dad was transitioning, I played Steely Dan for him. Jeffrey Fadden and Lori Ingwerson helped me to make this tribute video for my mom, which we played at her viewing, the night that Michael Jackson died, June 25, 2009.

My art prints are now online. Portion of proceeds go to Ashinaga, educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide.

I'm excited to share that my art prints are now available online at http://www.LisaASnyder.com. Buy a print in June (there's half a month left!) and * I WILL DONATE a portion of the proceeds to the Ashinaga Non-Profit who provides educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide*. This includes those effected by the tsunami in Japan this year.

Father’s Day Prep – What do you do for father’s day when you don’t have a dad?

What do you do for father's day when you don't have a dad? I'm still figuring that out. Seeing as how mother's day this year was really challenging, I thought I would start some preparation work on what I am going to do on father's day and the day's before. What are you doing to prepare?

Turning pain into power when you’ve lost a loved one (or two).

Some recent events have sparked me to feel pain. Pain sucks. It sucks your energy right out of you. It's like you're so tired but you didn't really do anything and a lot of the time you don't feel like you can control it. Here is a grief tool I used to help me TURN *PAIN* into *POWER*.

Okay, mother’s day was hard. Like, really hard.

I realized that not a lot of people can actually understand what this feels like - to not have a mother and then to not have a mother on mother's day. It's like the entire world around you is doing something you can not participate in at all. Here's how it went for me.

Have you seen Yoko Ono’s Mother’s Day Project, My Mommy Is Beautiful?

Upload your mother's photo to Yoko Ono's Flickr account, here, "write her name, a note about her and to her and to yourself. If it gets to be a love letter, a poem or a very long message as long as a novel (!) that's fine."
